The School of Science and Engineering at Duquesne University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track assistant professor position in environmental engineering with a start date of August 2025. This is an exciting opportunity because the environmental engineering program is new at Duquesne and the new hire will have a unique opportunity to build and reshape the program to train the next generation of engineers for the ever-changing natural and built environment. This position is open to all specialty areas of environmental engineering, and candidates with expertise in the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply: innovative treatment systems for water and wastewater, water reuse and resource recovery, water-energy nexus; environmental design and sustainability, environmental assessment and modeling, AI and machine learning in engineering applications; green and smart infrastructure, and/or environmental informatics. The candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching undergraduate courses, developing a funded research program, advising and mentoring students, and providing service to the department, university, and profession. Minimum Qualifications
?Ph.D. in Civil or Environmental Engineering or closely related engineering field by the start date of the employment.
?Ability to teach core environmental engineering courses.
?Excellent written and oral communication skills.
?Potential for excellence in teaching and scholarly activities.
Preferred Qualifications
?BS in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited program
?Record of teaching excellence
?Experience with ABET accreditation
?Experience with new program development
?Capstone design experience
?Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
?Industrial experience
?Record of grant funding or proposal writing
