THE TEAM
Our Finance team provides critical financial stewardship and supports transparency and compliance throughout the agency. The Accounting Services Supervisor is a key member of this team, responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial processing, internal controls, and treasury operations that keep Western Water and the agencies we support running efficiently and accurately.
THE POSITION Under general direction, the Accounting Services Supervisor plans, coordinates, and oversees payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury management. The role supervises Accounting Technician staff and ensures the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, regulatory reporting, and internal controls. The position supports the development of accounting policies and plays a key role in monthly and year-end close processes.
This position works closely with the Director of Finance and serves as a trusted resource across departments, helping ensure Western Water meets its strategic and fiscal goals.
IDEAL CANDIDATE -
Hands-on experience in processing and supervising public sector payroll and A/P is desired, with A/R and treasury management experience a plus

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical: Employees are regularly required to use repetitive motion for keyboard use and writing; frequently grasp, reach overhead, hold and reach; sit for long periods of time; occasionally walk, use staircases, stand, kneel, stoop and bend; occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds or 60 pounds with assistance; constantly use overall vision; and frequently hear and talk, in person and on the phone.

The ability to explain, interpret, and apply related rules, regulations, policies and procedures; and work on multiple concurrent assignments, often within tight timeframes using good business judgment is necessary.
Environmental: Employees primarily work in a temperature-controlled office environment subject to typical office noise and settings. Incumbents are expected to use principles of effective safety practices including the use of equipment in a proper and safe manner, use of preventative personal ergonomic techniques, and maintaining safe personal and common workspaces.
